The University of Basra held the final rounds of the international Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition for doctoral students, in the presence of the University President, Dr. Muhannad Jawad Al-Asadi, the Scientific Assistant, Dr. Haider Khazal, and a number of deans, department heads, and faculty members.

The University President began his speech by welcoming the attendees, emphasizing that holding this competition for the first time at the University of Basra represents a distinguished scientific event and a pioneering step in supporting scientific research and honing the skills of graduate students, particularly in simplifying science and communicating it to the community in clear and effective language.

Al-Asadi explained that the participation of doctoral students in this event represents a qualitative achievement, as it provides them with the opportunity to present the summary of their research theses in just three minutes, in a language understood by both specialists and non-specialists. This enhances their persuasive and communication skills, enabling them to transform complex scientific ideas into concise and effective messages.

For his part, the Scientific Assistant, Dr. Haider Khazal, praised the efforts of the organizing committees and the professors supporting this event, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in positioning the university as an incubator for scientific innovation and creativity, and a shining example of community service and development.

The event also featured the participation of a select group of doctoral students who presented their research projects in a simplified and effective scientific style, amidst the audience's interaction and praise from the scientific committee. This demonstrated that the University of Basra is making confident strides towards scientific and knowledge leadership.
