
The College of Agriculture at the University of Basra organized a seminar on the role of smart agriculture and its applications in soil and water sciences toward a sustainable agricultural future.
The seminar, delivered by Professor Haifa Jassim Al-Tamimi, aimed to highlight the concept of smart agriculture and its importance in enhancing food security and addressing the challenges of climate change through the optimal use of natural resources and reducing reliance on traditional methods.
The lecture addressed the benefits of smart agriculture in improving productivity and resource efficiency, reviewing its development globally and locally, as well as models and applications used in Iraq.
The seminar also addressed key modern technologies such as artificial intelligence, remote sensing, and drones, and their role in smart irrigation and soil management.
The seminar concluded with a discussion of current challenges and future recommendations for promoting the use of smart agriculture in the Iraqi agricultural sector.
