The College of Agriculture at the University of Basra organized a seminar on "Preparing a Vaccine Against Pathogenic Bacteria and Improving the Immune Response of Common Carp."
The seminar, delivered by researcher Israa Adel Fadel, aimed to develop a safe and effective vaccine that would contribute to controlling bacterial diseases that threaten aquaculture projects, reduce reliance on antibiotics, and promote sustainable and healthy production of common carp in local aquatic environments.
The seminar covered the most important immunological foundations upon which bacterial vaccines are used to stimulate the immune system of fish. It demonstrated that the immune response includes activating both innate and adaptive immunity by increasing the production of immunoglobulin and stimulating the secretion of cytokines, which are important indicators of the vaccine's effectiveness in improving fish resistance to disease.
