The University of Basra organizes a discussion session on the greater wax worm.

The College of Agriculture at the University of Basra organized a discussion session on the spatial distribution and spread of the greater waxworm in some apiaries in central and southern Iraq.
The session, presented by researcher Raja Malik Khalaf, aimed to identify the insect's presence in the governorates, determine the incidence rate in each governorate, and highlight the control methods used.
The session included methods for collecting samples from apiaries in Babil, Karbala, Qadisiyah, Maysan, and Basra. The severity of the infestation and the incidence rates for the aforementioned governorates were calculated.
The study recommended providing GBIF with the latest statistics and rates of infestation and spread of various pest species, in order to bring Iraq into the global arena of biodiversity research.
