The Dean of the College of Agriculture at the University of Basra, Professor Dr. Sarmad Ghazi Mohammed Al-Shawi, attended the opening ceremony of the Basra University Specialized Hospital. The hospital was inaugurated by the University of Basra in the presence of the Governor of Basra, Engineer Asaad Al-Eidani, the President of the University, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kadhim, and a number of officials and academics.

The hospital is considered one of the most important healthcare projects in Basra Governorate. It is equipped with the latest medical equipment and has a capacity of 446 beds. It includes comprehensive specialized departments that provide advanced medical services to residents of Basra and neighboring governorates.

Dr. Al-Shawi emphasized that the opening of the hospital represents a significant addition to the health and educational infrastructure at the University of Basra. It will contribute to supporting the practical training of students in the medical colleges and developing healthcare services in the region.
