The College of Agriculture at the University of Basra organized a field trip for second-year undergraduate students to the Al-Ahwar Fish Production and Marketing Company, located in the East Hammar Marshes, accompanied by several faculty members.
The visit aimed to enhance the practical application of coursework related to aquatic environment, marshland ecosystems, and fish farming, through direct observation of the company's operations and fish production and marketing processes.
During the visit, the students collected several field samples and conducted scientific observations of both natural and cultivated aquatic environments.
The Dean of the College emphasized that this visit is part of the college's plan to strengthen partnerships with private sector institutions, contributing to the development of qualified scientific personnel with the necessary theoretical and practical skills to advance the fisheries sector and protect the aquatic environment in Iraq.
