The Aquaculture Unit at the College of Agriculture, University of Basra, conducted a comprehensive campaign to rehabilitate its aquaponics unit. The campaign involved a group of professors and researchers and was directly supervised by Professor Dr. Jalal Mohammed Issa, the unit's director.
The campaign aimed to develop the infrastructure of the integrated aquaponics and agricultural system and improve the research environment by cleaning the ponds and pipes, maintaining the pumps, and renewing the water supply. This will enhance the system's efficiency and sustainability.
Dr. Issa emphasized that this initiative was supported by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Sarmad Ghazi Mohammed Al-Shawi, and aligns with the college's focus on developing aquaponics systems that combine aquaponics and organic farming. This approach serves scientific research and practical training for students and supports the university's progress in innovation and environmental sustainability.
