The College of Agriculture at the University of Basra organized a seminar on the impact of integrated aquaculture between common carp and geese on fish growth performance and quality.
The seminar, presented by researcher Anwar Wadi Saleh, aimed to achieve sustainability in the fish farming sector through the use of an integrated fish-geese aquaculture system. This system improves fish nutrition by adding nutritional value from the birds' byproducts, thus reducing the use of expensive feed.
The seminar covered some growth and nutrition parameters for common carp, conducted environmental analyses of the experimental pond water, estimated nutrient levels (phosphorus, nitrates, and nitrites), and performed bacteriological tests (total and fecal coliform bacteria) on the experimental pond water.
