The University of Basra met with representatives of the Italian energy company Eni to discuss future cooperation between the College of Agriculture and its consulting office at the College of Engineering, University of Basra. The meeting, held at the College of Engineering, focused on projects that benefit agriculture and farmers in Basra Governorate, particularly in addressing the challenges of climate change. The aim is to develop a comprehensive agricultural project proposal addressing the impacts of climate change and ways to support local farmers.
The Dean of the College of Agriculture, Professor Dr. Sarmad Ghazi Mohammed, stated that this meeting is the first in a series of upcoming meetings and workshops designed to create a comprehensive roadmap and present clear proposals that can be agreed upon with the consulting firms and the international partner (Eni) before the proposed project is implemented.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen cooperation between Iraqi universities and the international private sector to develop projects with economic and environmental impact in Basra Governorate. Basra faces climate challenges that affect agricultural production, requiring innovative solutions that combine academic and industrial expertise.
