The College of Agriculture at the University of Basra organized a seminar entitled "Smart Technologies in the Service of Sustainable Aquaculture."
The seminar, presented by Dr. Adel Qasim Jassim, aimed to introduce the latest smart technologies used in developing aquaculture systems, particularly artificial intelligence applications, the Internet of Things, and smart monitoring systems for managing ponds and improving production efficiency.
The seminar addressed mechanisms for employing smart sensors to monitor water quality and measure environmental variables such as temperature, dissolved oxygen levels, and salinity, which contributes to enhancing fish health, reducing mortality rates, and increasing growth rates.
The seminar also touched upon the role of modern technologies in rationalizing water and feed consumption, improving nutrition management, and predicting diseases and environmental problems before they occur. This supports the achievement of sustainable and environmentally friendly aquaculture, contributes to increasing local production, and helps achieve food security.
