A master's thesis at the University of Basra examines the heat shock gene and milk production in Iraqi buffalo.

A master's thesis at the College of Agriculture, University of Basra, investigated "The Molecular Characterization of the Heat Shock Protein Gene (HSP40) and its Relationship to Milk Production and Components in Iraqi Buffalo."

The thesis, submitted by researcher Hani Kadhim Hussein, aimed to identify the genetic variants of the HSP40 gene and study their relationship to milk production and components, using molecular genetics techniques and bioinformatics software.

The study included 40 female buffalo from the Basra and Babylon governorates. Milk production was measured and its components analyzed, along with the genetic sequences, mutations, and their potential effects on protein structure and function.

The results showed five genetic variants of the HSP40 gene, as well as genetic variation among the samples, reflecting local genetic diversity in Iraqi buffalo.
