Researchers at the University of Basra have completed a gradual process for the rearing of young carp.

On Wednesday, June 25, 2025, a specialized team of researchers from the Aquaculture Unit at the College of Agriculture at the University of Basra completed a grading process for young common carp, prepared for the 2025-2026 research plan, in one of the unit's aquaculture ponds. The pond was drained, the fish were caught, and they were placed in a floating cage (2 x 2 x 2) meters. The fish were then graded according to size, with their average weight calculated to calculate the required amount of food. Exotic fish entering the aquaculture pond were also removed, after which the fish were distributed to the aquaculture ponds prepared for this purpose.
