A master's thesis at the College of Agriculture at the University of Basra investigated the addition of Panicum mombasa leaf powder to the diet of juvenile common carp.

The thesis, presented by researcher Nour Abdul-Muhammad Muhammad Hassan, aimed to use the plant powder in fish feed to reduce costs.

The thesis concluded that adding the powder at rates of 25 and 50% had positive effects on growth parameters.

The thesis recommended adding dried Panicum mombasa leaf powder to the diets of other fish species to reduce the cost of feeding fish.
