Basra University organizes a discussion forum on the diversity of myxosporean parasites (phylum Myxozoa) in the fish of the Shatt al-Arab waterway.

The College of Agriculture at Basra University organized a seminar on the diversity of myxosporean parasites (phylum Myxozoa) in fish inhabiting the Shatt al-Arab waterway.

The seminar, presented by postgraduate student/PhD candidate, Ibtihal Kadhim Jawad, aimed to study the morphological diversity of myxosporean parasites in fish from the Shatt al-Arab. The seminar included a morphological diagnostic study of both external and internal myxosporean parasites found in fish from the Shatt al-Arab, with the goal of isolating these parasites based on their high specificity, determined by the affected organ.  The morphological classification was further supported by histological examination of the parasites in the infected tissues, and molecular studies were conducted to reinforce the morphological diagnosis.
