A delegation from the University of Basra participates in a dialogue session about the reality of buffalo breeders in the marshes of Basra

A delegation from the College of Agriculture at the University of Basra, representing the Dean, Professor Dr. Sarmad Ghazi Mohammed Al-Shawi, participated in a dialogue session held by the Eastern Hammar Marshes Committee at the Basra Governorate building. The session addressed the environmental and social conditions of Iraqi buffalo breeders in the Basra marshes, and was attended by a number of officials and representatives from relevant departments.

The session discussed the most prominent challenges facing buffalo breeders, including water scarcity, high feed prices, and environmental changes.

The college delegation presented a scientific intervention on the national plan for developing the buffalo sector in Basra Governorate, emphasizing the importance of supporting veterinary services, improving local breeds, and strengthening cooperation between academic institutions and government agencies to achieve sustainable development and preserve the marshland environment.
