
University of Basra Organizes Symposium "Water Resources Sector in Basra - Challenges and Solutions" to Address the Water Crisis
The University of Basra held an extensive symposium entitled "Water Resources Sector in Basra - Challenges and Solutions," attended by a number of academic researchers, specialists, and dignitaries from the province. Organized by the College of Agriculture, the College of Marine Sciences, and the Marine Science Center, the symposium aimed to discuss the serious water challenges facing the province and offer scientific and practical solutions to address them.
University President Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kazim Al-Asadi noted that the symposium aims not only to diagnose problems, but also to seek practical, implementable solutions that combine academic and applied expertise. He noted that the University of Basra, through its colleges and research centers, is committed to being the premier house of expertise in the province, offering scientific solutions supported by research and study.
Al-Asadi also emphasized the importance of institutional cooperation between universities, government agencies, the private sector, and civil society organizations to address this crisis.
Al-Asadi concluded his remarks by saying that the water issue is a supreme national concern that requires long-term strategic planning and courageous decisions to protect the right of future generations to safe water.
