Faculty Members in the Field Crops Department Co-author a Scientific Book

Professor Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Rahim (Egyptian) collaborated with a group of faculty members from the Field Crops Department at the College of Agriculture, University of Basra: Professor Dr. Lamia Mahmoud Salman, Dr. Khawla Dawood Katea, and Dr. Sundus Kamel Jabbar.

In support of scientific output and to enhance research, the faculty members co-authored a scientific book, which was recently published. This scientific achievement affirms the active role of the department's faculty in enriching the scientific library with academic publications and contributing to the development of knowledge and the advancement of education and research. We wish them continued success and further scientific contributions. The book addresses the impact of climate change, which is one of the most prominent challenges facing increased food production. In most developing countries, the agricultural sector represents the primary source of livelihoods, economic growth, and foreign exchange earnings. However, it is also one of the sectors most vulnerable to the effects of climate change. Agricultural adaptation strategies adopted by small farmers to mitigate the effects of climate change include minimal tillage and crop rotation. There has been considerable debate about whether these two strategies, which are considered resource-conserving agricultural practices, actually lead to increased crop productivity and higher farmers' incomes.
