Dr. Alaa Awda Maneh, a faculty member at the College of Agriculture, University of Basra, participated as a member of the committee that discussed the Master's thesis of researcher Mays Mohsen Khudair at the College of Agriculture, University of Wasit. Her thesis was titled "Stimulating Systemic Resistance Against Fusarium oxysporum Infection Using Trichoderma viride and the Fungicide Hemix in Relation to Gene Expression in Cucumber Plants."

The thesis aimed to study the role of the biological agent Trichoderma viride and the fungicide Hemix in enhancing cucumber plant resistance to Fusarium oxysporum infection by evaluating their effectiveness in reducing the fungus's impact and improving plant growth and disease resistance.

The study included gene expression analysis of several defensive genes associated with plant resistance, with the goal of revealing the role of biological and chemical treatments in stimulating the cucumber plant's defensive response at the molecular level.
