
A doctoral thesis at the College of Agriculture at the University of Basra examined a taxonomic and ecological study of parasitic worms in some fish of the Gharraf River in Dhi Qar Governorate.
The thesis, presented by researcher Mohammed Hilal Kazim, aimed to study the morphology of parasitic worms on or in fish, and the incidence and average severity of infection in 24 species of river fish in the Gharraf River, Dhi Qar Governorate, southern Iraq.
The study identified 29 parasitic species from nine fish species, and recorded five parasite species for the first time in Iraq.
